Although Newbee has failed to claim a Major title in international events, their presence in China is rather more dominating. Being the winners of the previous DPL season, Newbee achieved the Top League seed for DPL Season 3. The Top league was where Newbee ended the Round-Robin with a 5-6-0 record.
This meant the team would advance to the playoffs. During the playoffs for the event, Newbee claimed victory over fellow countrymen Team VGJ and then battled it out against Invictus Gaming in the semifinals.
Team IG wasn’t much of a deal for Newbee as well. Newbee eventually defeated IG 2-1 and claimed their spot in the Grand Finals.
LGD Gaming was the final boss to take down by Newbee’s side. Claiming two easy wins against LGD in the finals, the team got a small blew as LGD took Game 3 for themselves. Newbee counter-acted brilliantly, and after a game’s loss came back really strong and defeated LGD with a final score 3-1.
With the win, Newbee has claimed its second DPL title and a third podium finish for the year 2017. The team’s recent notable spot was a 3rd place finish at DAC 2017. The event brought a lot of experience to Newbee who lost to eventual tournament winners IG.
With their win at DPL Season 3, the team hopefully has gained much needed confidence and motivation. This will allow Newbee a much better hold for the upcoming Kiev Major where the team is invited and expected to play.
