The biggest esports event of all time, The International 2017, has concluded, with Team Liquid taking the coveted Aegis trophy. However, that’s not all that the team took home. With a total prize pool of $24 Million, Team Liquid was rewarded 40% of the prize money. This win brings the team’s front man, Kuro Salehi ‘KuroKy’ Tahasomi, to the top of the list, making him the richest esports player in the world right now.

A few years ago, we lived in a world where video games were considered something people played in their spare time. However, the gaming world has evolved to become a billion dollar industry, with hundreds of professional gamers, who have now become millionaires.

Dota 2, on its own, has accumulated a total of 1.25 billion dollars in the past seven years, making this video game franchise, the biggest in the gaming industry. As a result, with tournaments taking place every other week, Dota 2 players are awarded cash of hundreds of thousands of dollars. And if that wasn’t enough, every year comes The International Championship which comes with a prize pool in the millions.

Additionally, with Team Liquid winning back to back tournaments including TI7, the team’s captain, Kuro Salehi ‘KuroKy’ Tahasomi has become the richest esports player, cashing a total of $3.35 million. In the second position comes KuroKy’s right-hand man, Team Liquid’s carry player Amer ‘Miracle’ Barkavi, with a total of $2.93 million.

that being said, with two players from Team Liquid taking the first two spots in the top 10 list of richest esports player, you might think that either GH, Matumbaman or Mind Control would take the third spot. However, its EG’s Saahil ‘Universe’ Arora who takes the third spot in the list, who till now has made $2.90 million from his Dota 2 winnings. For more details, check out the entire list below:

Unlike Professional Dota 2 players, Dani is toxic, aggressive and has zero gaming sense. But, his timely puns make up for everything. He has been playing Dota 2 since it was in its early access stage. And when he's not playing, he's writing about it.
