Best Games To Play On Halloween 2018

To hell with trick-or-treating, this is the true spirit of Halloween. This is how Halloween is meant to be enjoyed. Rolled up in your chair, looking over your shoulders, screaming at the slightest of sounds. Doesn’t this sound fun! Check out our list of the most blood-curdling video games and give Halloween the respect it deserves.

Resident Evil 7

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is a survival horror video game by Capcom. It is the seventh title in the Resident Evil franchise. In it, Capcom has a taken a new approach with their latest installment, one which is different from any other horror video game.

Over the past couple of years, the horror video game genre has been flooded with countless titles that revolve around the same, jump-scare tactics. Though some have been quite thrilling, the genre as a whole has gone down the drain. However, this release by Capcom has come as a surprise as not only did it have an exceptional storyline, it is quite freighting as well.

Moreover, if the original storyline wasn’t compelling enough, the developers have released quite a few DLCs for the game, which take you further into this breath-taking game. So, if you are looking for a title which is more than your average horror video game, then we would recommend you to try out Resident Evil 7. But before you get into it, we would also advise you to keep toilet papers right next to you. You never know when you might need them.

Outlast 2

Like Resident Evil 7, Outlast II adopts a similar style, featuring a first-person camera angle, with just the right amount of jump scares. The intriguing storyline forces players to continue playing the game with non-stop enthusiasm.

Outlast II is a sequel to the first title, Outlast, which in a way, kick-started this whole revamped horror genre. So, you can say that Resident Evil 7 was inspired by this and not the other way around.

It’s an amazing game and is a must-have for anyone who loves to play horror games, this Halloween. So, if you haven’t already dwelled in the world of Outlast, we would highly recommend you to do so as soon as possible.

Evil Within 2

The game, Evil Within 2 adopts a third-person camera angle, giving players a wider range of view which includes the main protagonist. It emphasizes heavily on the character, which has perks of its own.

Plus, with the game being developed by one of the best storytellers in the industry, Shinji Mikami, you know it will not disappoint you.  It’s a good pick for Halloween. Ever since the game’s release, it has received favorable reviews, with an average rating of at least 8 out 10 stars.

So, if first-person survival horror is not your cup of tea, then Evil Within 2 is the perfect game to play for you.

Dying Light

Role-playing and horror are two different genres that don’t usually blend well together. However, there have been a couple of video games that do find the perfect balance between the two. One of those video games is the 2015 release, Dying Light.

It highlights a zombie survival with ground-breaking free running/parkour features. Surviving through hordes of zombies, climbing walls, crafting unimaginable weapons, it can’t get any better than this.

A DLC was released which added in drivable buggies, which can be upgraded with mountable weapons and attachments. You never know you wanted to run over a zombie until you play Dying Light.

Furthermore, with the developers working on a sequel for the game, titled Dying Light 2, this is the perfect time to play the game if you already haven’t. And for those who have played it before, why not play the game again and refresh your memory as the upcoming second title will take from where Dying Light ended.

Friday The 13th

Growing up, there were tons of horror movies, however, none were as scary as those spine-chilling movies like Halloween, Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The petrifying music, the jump scares, the fear, everything was just so freaking real. Plus, the fact that usually, a group of teenagers was the victims in all three movies – added to the relatable factor.

Well, what if we were to tell you that now you can experience all of that in an 80s style video game. Where you, not only can play as one of the teenagers but also can put yourself in the shoes of the serial killers. Tell me, doesn’t this sound exciting?

Experience everything, from the constant fear of being stalked to the moment where you actually come across the killer, it all feels so real. If you wish to relive the most freighting moments of your childhood this Halloween, then Friday The 13th is the game for you. On a side note, Jason is in the game. You have been warned.

Hunt: Showdown

With the world moving towards Battle Royale titles, imagine a video game where you not only have to hunt down other players but you also hide away from creatures, some of which will give you nightmares for ages.

Hunt: Showdown is a competitive first-person PvP bounty hunting game with heavy PvE elements, from the makers of Crysis. Set in the darkest corners of the world, it packs the thrill of survival games into a match-based format.

So, for all those interested in the upcoming Battle Royale genre but want something even more thrilling, then we would highly recommend you to give Hunt: Showdown a try. But be sure to tag along a couple of friends with you as playing this alone is not something we would advise you to do.
