TI8 Group Stage Day 1 Recap: Two Brothers On the Road To Glory

The first day of The International 2018 Group Stages has come and gone, bringing to us some of the greatest Dota 2 matches we have seen in the history of the game. However, if you are one who might have missed out on the excitement, do not worry. We have taken the time out to bring you a recap of Day 1 of the TI8 Group Stage.

TI8 Groups

With a total of 18 teams going through to play in The International 2018 Group Stage, two groups were made with 9 teams each. The top four teams from each group will head on over to the play in the Upper Bracket of the main event, while the teams placing 5th to 8th will advance off to the Lower Bracket. The team which comes in last in its group is set to be eliminated from the tournament.

TI8 Group Stage Day 1 Schedule

The first day of the TI8 Group Stage featured a total of 20 games, with four games being played at a time. Team Liquid, Invictus Gaming, Evil Geniuses and a couple of more teams were set to play a total of three games while Pain Gaming and Optic Gaming had only one.

TI8 Group Stage Day 1 Recap

With a misclick from Evil Geniuses resulting in their main carry to play as a support and the winners of The International 2017 losing 39-1 to Fnatic, Day 1 featured some pretty interesting games. However, since Day 2 is up next. You might not have the time to go through these amazing matches. So, to help you out, we have for you highlights (Courtesy of DotA Digest) of best games of The International 2018 Group Stage Day 1.

TI8 Group Standings: Day 1

After all 20 games played, the current standings have Evil Geniuses topping Group A with a total of 5 points, and Team Liquid at second position with a total of 4 points. Group B has VGJ.Storm on top with an undefeated run which got them 4 points. Newbee is in the second position with a total of 3 points, after winning three of their four games.

TI8 Group Stage Day 2 Schedule

Now that Day 1 is behind us, the schedule for the Day 2 is here which is expected to feature even more exciting games. So, if you missed out on the first day, we would advise you to not do it again. But if you do, don’t lose heart as we are going to be bringing you with a recap of the Day 2 again, tomorrow. So, stay tuned.
