LGD. Forever Young vs. Team Liquid

After Newbee defeated LGD. Forever Young in the Upper Bracket Final, LFY was sent to the Lower Bracket Final where they were matched up against the winners of the LB Semi Final, Team Liquid.

With Team Liquid and LFY both performing extremely well in the tournament, the best-of-three match between the two was expected to be packed with excitement. And that’s exactly what happened. The match between the two was one of the most exciting and competitive in the entire tournament.

The Lower Bracket Final kicked off with LGD. Forever Young drawing the first blood. This meant that if Team Liquid fails to win the next round, they would be eliminated.

So, with that in mind, Team liquid went into the second game of the match and came out with an absolutely incredible win. Team Liquid completely dominated LFY in game two. This meant that the two teams would go for the decider – the third game.

The atmosphere was just amazing. Everyone was sitting at the edge of their seats, hoping that their team wins. And after a 48 minute battle, Team Liquid came out on top, winning the match and qualifying themselves for the TI7 Grand Final.

Newbee vs. Team Liquid

With both the teams for The International 2017 Grand Final now confirmed, it was time for the moment everyone had been waiting for – the final best-of-five match that would decide the faith of the Aegis.

Since both teams were playing well in the tournament, it was expected that the final would end up with a couple of wins for the both sides. However, one team completely dominated the Grand Final, taking home the first three wins, and thus the coveted prize.

Yes! Team Liquid completely thrashed Newbee by scoring a dominant 3-0 victory in the Grand Finals. As a result, Team Liquid are your new The International Champions. They are now the holders of the Aegis of the Immortal as well.

As a result, Newbee who was once undefeated in the Upper Bracket, completely fell apart in the Grand Final. However, there is a silver lining for them as they still take home the runner-up cash prize of almost $4 million. Hopefully, Newbee will bounce back stronger than ever in the upcoming Dota 2 Competitive Season in October.

And that’s exactly happened. Team OG whitewashed TnC by winning the first two games of the best-of-three match up. While OG qualifies for the next round of the lower bracket, the road to TI7 ends for TnC.

Invictus Gaming vs. Newbee

With Day Three Lower Bracket matches completed, it was time now for the crème de la crème, the Upper Bracket Semi Finals.

After defeating the TI 2015 Champions, Evil Geniuses in the first Upper Bracket Quarter Finals, Newbee were matched up against Invictus Gaming.

The match-up between the two was expected to one of the best matches in the tournament as both teams had been playing extremely well in the entire tournament. And that’s exactly what happened. Both teams managed to win one game each. As a result, it was down to the final game to decide the fate of the two Upper Bracket contenders.

Both teams knew the stakes, but with what we say happening in the third and final game, it seemed like Newbee wanted it more. They played exceptionally well, taking fight which was in their favor. This gave Newbee the advantage they needed to get the upper hand and beat IG in the final match.

Newbee has qualified for the Upper Bracket Final. However, this isn’t the end for IG, as they will now play in the tournament’s Lower Bracket.

LGD.Forever Young vs. Virtus.Pro

After defeating LGD in the Upper Bracket Quarter Finals, Virtus.Pro was matched up against the team that has only lost a single match in the entire TI7 tournament, Team LGD. Forever Young. The winner of this matchup would end up facing Team Newbee in the Upper Bracket Finals. While, the loser would go on to face the winners of the LB Round 2 match up which is scheduled for Friday, August 10.

It was expected that LFY would win as they have yet to concede a match in the playoffs. However, since we have seen quite a few upsets in TI7, anything could have happened. That being said, the final match-up of Day three concluded with LFY continuing their undefeated playoff run.

LFY wiped out Virtus.Pro, annihilating them twice in a row. Consequently, Virtus.Pro lost their chance to qualify for the Upper Bracket Final. However, Virtus.Pro can still make a comeback through the tournament’s Lower Bracket which is where they stand right now. LFY, on the other hand, will go up against Newbee in TI7’s Upper Bracket Final which will take place on Friday, August 10.

TI7 Playoff Day 2 Recap: Surprises Galore! Ex-Champions EG Sent Packing

With night approaching, Day 2 of The International 2017 Playoffs has come to an end. Those of you who missed out the mayhem that took place during the second day of the playoffs, worry not! We have taken this opportunity to bring you a recap of what went down on Day 2. Those of you who are in hurry, check out the overall summary below:

Source: Wykrhm Reddy

LFY Vs TnC

Day 2 of TI7 Playoffs kickstarted with an Upper Bracket match-up between Group B’s LGD. Forever Young and Group A’s TnC. LFY, being the team with the best record in the tournament, were the favorites for the match-up. However, with TnC’s unpredictability, anything could have happened.

Since it was an Upper Bracket match-up, the format was set at best-of-three, meaning the first team to get two wins would qualify for TI7 Quarter Finals. The team that fails to qualify would then be relegated to the Lower Bracket, where they would fight for a spot at the TI7’ Main Event for one, final time.

Game 1 kicked off with LFY picking Night Stalker, Nature’s Prophet, Dazzle, Terrorblade, and Puck. Meanwhile, Team TnC was rocking a roster with Naga Siren, Jakiro, Sand King, Razor, and Alchemist. LFY’s Terrorblade and Dazzle combo was too much for TnC to handle. As a result, LFY managed to draw the first blood.

In Game 2, TnC again went for the Naga pick. But this time, it was accompanied by Bat Rider, Oracle, Sand King and Broodmother. LFY, on the other hand, went on for a completely different strategy. Their roster included Faceless Void, Ancient Apparition, Kunkka, Nature’s Prophet and finally, Bristleback.

And again, TnC’s Naga pick failed as they were not able to counter LFY’s Bristleback. As a result, after a somewhat quick game, LFY secured a 2-0 lead, advancing to TI7’s Quarter Finals.

LGD Vs Virtus.Pro

The next match-up was scheduled between LGD and Virtus.Pro. Both teams have been performing quite well in the tournament. This match was bound to be an interesting one. Then again, since LGD had a better win record as compared to Virtus.Pro, LGD was deemed the favorites for this match-up.

However, being favorite doesn’t give you any advantage, as far as this tournament is concerned. And that’s exactly what happened. Virtus.Pro came out with a 2-0 win over LGD. As a result, Virtus.Pro will be going up against LGD.FY in the Quarter Finals. While, LGD will head on to the Lower Bracket, where they are matched up against Digital Chaos. This marked the end of the Day Two’s Upper Bracket match-ups.

Source: Wykrhm Reddy

Team Liquid Vs Team Secret

Now it is time for the Lower Bracket matches. The first match was scheduled between Team Liquid and Team Secret. After losing their Upper Bracket match-up against Invictus Gaming, this was Team Liquid’s final chance of staying the tournament.

However, with what went down in the first game, it seemed like this was the end for Group A’s top team as Team Secret took home the first win. As a result, for Team Liquid to stay in the tournament, they had to secure the next two rounds.

And that’s exactly what happened. With incredible plays from Team Liquid’s core player, Miracle, they booked a place for the third round of the Lower Bracket which is scheduled for tomorrow, August 10.

Source: Wykrhm Reddy

Evil Geniuses Vs Team Empire

The final match of Day 2 was up next, where Team Empire and EG were scheduled to go up against each other for one final time. And since EG was TI Champions in 2015, it was believed that Team Empire would be no match for them.

However, with what followed, this match-up was deemed as the biggest upset of The International 2017. Team Empire completely wiped out EG, beating them in the first two rounds of the best-of-three match-up. And since this was EG’s final chance to stay in the tournament, the former TI Champions, are now eliminated from TI7.

Team Liquid Vs Invictus Gaming

The day kicked off with a best-of-three round up between Team Liquid and Invictus Gaming. During the TI7 Group Stage, Team Liquid came out on top in Group A. Meanwhile, iG were the second runner ups in Group B, making iG the underdogs for this match-up.

However, with what went down in the first of the three matches, it seemed like it was the other way around. IG completely dominated Team Liquid during their first game, securing themselves the first victory in the best-of-three match.

Team Liquid bounced back to win the second game, making it a one-one tie between the two teams.  This meant that the next game was to decide who would advance to the next round of TI7 Upper Bracket and who would end up playing for their lives in the Lower Bracket. Consequently, the stakes were very high.

Both teams were playing extremely well in their third and final game, taking planned and controlled fights. And with iG winning the final fight, Invictus Gaming won themselves, their first matchup of TI7 Playoffs, securing their spot at in tournament’s Quarter Finals.

Evil Geniuses Vs Newbee

In the next match-up, 2015 TI Champions, Evil Geniuses faced off the runners-up of Group B, Newbee. Both teams have been playing quite well in the tournament. Here, EG was the more favored side.

However, once again the underdogs came out stronger, as Newbee completely annihilated EG in their Upper Bracket match-up. Newbee managed to win two games in a row, resulting in the match-up to end earlier than expected.

This unexpected victory led to EG being relegated off to play for their survival in the Lower Bracket. While, Newbee advanced to play against the winners of the previous match, iG in the Quarter Finals.

Source: Wykrhm Reddy
And that was it for the Day One Upper Bracket match-ups. The next four matches were to take place in the tournament’s Lower Bracket in a best-of-one format. This meant that whichever team loses the match, will be eliminated from The International 2017.

However, since these teams did make it to the playoff stage, they will take home a section of the prize money. As a result, each of the eight teams competing, knew exactly what was at stake. It was either go big or go home.

Team Secret Vs Execration

The first match of the Lower Bracket was scheduled between Team Secret and Execration. Team Secret were the favorites for the match-up as they have been performing quite well in the tournament. And for the first time in the playoffs, the favorites lived up to their status. Team Secret won their match against XctN, making XctN the first team to get eliminated from the TI7 playoffs.

Source: Wykrhm Reddy

Cloud9 Vs Team Empire

The next match was scheduled between Group A’s Cloud9 and Group B’s Empire. During the first 15 minutes of the game, it seemed like Cloud9 will secure an outright victory. However, Team Empire quickly recovered, and after winning a number of team fights, Team Empire won their match-up against Cloud9, which resulted in Cloud9 eliminated from the tournament.

Source: Wykrhm Reddy

OG Vs Infamous

OG and Infamous took to the stage next. However, just like the previous match, there was one team that had been playing much better than the other team. OG came at the fifth spot during the stages, while Infamous just barely survived the group stage elimination. As a result, you can expect what went down during the match. OG completely dominated the game, which meant that it was the end of the line for Infamous.

Source: Wykrhm Reddy

Digital Choas Vs IG. Vitality

The final match of Day 1 was scheduled between iG.V and Digital Chaos. IG.V was the more favored side as they came in fifth during the group stages. However, DC Dota2 since the start of the game was dominating. This resulted in DC to qualify for the next round, while iG.V had to pack their bags.
