Valve Introduces Evolution Of The Battle Pass “Dota Plus”; Not A Pay To Win
For the past few years, Valve has constantly been releasing a paid service for Dota 2 called Battle Pass which allows players to get additional rewards and perks, based on their performance. And since the developers release the Battle Pass around the same time, the community had been waiting for the all-new Battle Pass. However, Valve is taking a completely different approach in 2018 as a new monthly paid-subscription based service called Dota Plus has been released.

The New Kind Of Battle Pass “Dota Plus”
According to Valve, Dota Plus is the “evolution of Battle Pass.” It is an update to its current Battle Pass Plan which promises to add a ton of improvements and new features in the game. The new and improved Battle Pass is a subscription-based service which costs around $3.99 per month. The features include hero leveling, hero- specific challenges, hero relics, and a lot more.
The new features focus on helping players in their progression, while also improving their in-game performance through the new assistant system. Furthermore, with challenges and other tasks available in the game, players will be rewarded with “Shards” upon completion which can later be used to purchase exclusive sets and items. With the release of Valve’s “Dota Plus,” the entire Dota 2 community has been split. The proponents have welcomed this new feature as the best thing the developers have added to the game, as it allows players to improve their game. However, the opponents hold a point of view that with Dota Plus now active, the game has become a paid-to-win of a sort as it grants the subscribers a significant advantage over the ones who don’t own the new service.
That being said, we believe the former holds more ground as currently the service only provides players with suggestions which a veteran will already know. Hence, this new service is a boost for the newcomers, allowing them a chance to compete with other players. However, at the end of the day, the assistant can only help you so much. It all depends on how you play the game which will decide the outcome of the match.
