Dota 2 Immortal Treasure III: Is it a Bug or Something Far More Sinister?
Every year, the Battle Pass for Dota 2 features a total of three Immortal Treasures, all including exclusive Immortal items for the game. Now, the developers release these three treasures over the course of the Battle Pass. However, this time due to the Collector’s Cache 2, the Immortal Treasure III was delayed. But now that it is here, it seems the community is not happy as reports linking the bugged drops rates are emerging in the community.
Dota 2 Community Backlash
According to numerous reports on Reddit, the majority of the Dota 2 community is complaining about the unfair drop rates for the Immortal Treasure III. These complaints are mostly targeted towards the ultra-rare item of the treasure, Masque of Awbleb Bundle. It seems players who have spent a lot of money in the game, leveling up their Battle Pass beyond the 600 mark have not been getting the Immortal bundle for Witch Doctor.
Now, we know that it is an ultra-rare item which means the chances of its dropping are quite low. However, these reports are coming from across the community which means it is not just one or two people. Furthermore, with Valve’s Escalating Odds feature in play which increases the chances of an ultra-rare drop with every treasure opening, it is very strange that no one is getting the Witch Doctor ultra-rare.
Immortal Treasure III Scam?
But this is not something new as we have seen something like this happen with last year’s Immortal Treasure III as well. For those who don’t know, last year when Valve released its Immortal Treasure III, Dota 2 players started complaining about the rigged drop rates for the ultra-rare Sven item. This lead to quite a lot of backlash from the community and it seems the same thing is happening this year.
Now, this could be a bug in the update or worse, it could be a scam to further increase the prize pool as the only people who are affected by this are the ones who have spent a lot of money. Since there is a chance that those players will spend more, in hopes of getting their hands on the ultra-rare. This is just my speculation as no one, except for the developers, know the actual drops rates for these items, nor how the Escalating Odds feature really affects the drop rates.
