4 Ways to Tilt the Enemy in CS:GO

They say that everything is fair in love and war. These words of wisdom certainly hold true when it comes to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Yes, CS:GO is a battle of skills and marksmanship, coordination and teamwork. However, it is also a mental battle (psychological warfare) in which you must psyche out the enemy with mindgames you play on a subliminal level.

The most common type of psychological warfare in CS:GO is trash talking. It’s so easy that anyone can do it. And, it works like a charm if used well, especially on an enemy who is highly susceptible to it! After all, who wouldn’t be offended if you tell him that he sucks at CS:GO? Trash talking is your most effective weapon to psyche out the enemy and make him lose confidence in his own ability.

So, if you want to tilt the enemy by gaining an edge over him, here are FOUR easy tips you can wage psychological warfare on them and increase your winrate in CS:GO:

Win Warmups

Taking a strong headstart is what it’s all about in CS:GO. And what better way to do it than in a warmup match? You’ve actually got two options in a warmup match. The first strategy is to go all ballistic against the enemy and overwhelm with a “shock and awe” strategy.

The more headshots you pull off in a warmup match, the stronger your chances of winning the psychological warfare against the enemy. In fact, if you are lucky, the enemy may even accuse you of cheating!

The second option you have is to stay absolutely motionless throughout the warmup match. That’s right, completely stationary! How does that help you? Well, by refusing to engage them, you actually end up intimidating the enemy with your stoicism. So you have a psychological edge over them in the next match.

Time Out While You’re Ahead

At the MLG Columbus, Astralis was leading 15-2 against Fnatic when karrigan called for a tactical timeout. This was a surprising move, especially given the momentum-based nature of CS:GO. However, taking a time out while you’re comfortably leading the match is a good way to show the enemy that you are indeed the better warrior. While you’re at it, you can even send them a cocky message in chat, something like “we’ll give you a minute to respect our skill”.

Go for the knife

If, during the first half of the match, you suddenly realize that your team is in the lead, put away your pistol and try your green beret skills by knifing a few enemies. The knife is THE most surefire way to tick off an enemy and tilt even the most unflappable of CS:GO veterans.

However, there is a chance that someone will stage a remarkable comeback in the endgame by pulling off a huge play. So just be vigilant and use the knife ONLY in 1v1 encounters. Don’t you go around chasing 3 enemies covering each other since it will obviously not end well for you.

Kill That Last Terrorist After Time

When there’s only one terrorist left on the map and he is trying to save an AWP, the best approach is to pin them down at one location in the map. You can then move in for the kill when the round ends. By killing after time, you make sure that they do not get any money. Of course, there is also the likelihood that your enemy will go into the next round with 0$ in their pocket!
